10th European Masters Indoor Championships
Torun, Poland,
23 March to 28 March 2015
Held in a brand new and extremely impressive, purpose-built indoor athletics stadium on the edge of the very historic Polish city of Torun, these were a great championships. I would say that, though. For me personally they marked a very welcome return to good form. I was 5th in both the 60m and 200m finals I raced in, and part of a gold medal-winning relay squad. Of course, running six races in five consecutive days had a knock-on effect on how much photography I could do in the stadium. My priorities were usually eating, sleeping, resting, getting a massage, warming up, getting to the Call Room on time, etc, However, I still took more than 1,500 photos which have been edited down into the day-by-day galleries you can connect to from this page.
Gaps in my coverage? Of course there are gaps. You try doing what I did in Poland!
Sunday 22 March 2015
Although by rights I should have been out celebrating my birthday, I shot the Opening Ceremony for the Championships. Guest of honour was Polish Olympic legend from the 1960s Irena Szewinska.

Tuesday 24 March 2015
The 400m events reached their finals and the 60m heats began. I was missing from the stadium for much of the morning while preparing for my own event.

Wednesday 25 March 2015
A small gallery of just 72 photos. I avoided the stadium as much as possible during the day, having qualified for an evening final. The pictures here are of the 60m finals that came after my own one.

Thursday 26 March 2015
I surprised myself in the morning's 200m heats, by running second fastest time of the day in my age group. I managed to shoot the 800m finals in the evening though probably ought to have spent the time eating and sleeping!

Friday 27 March 2015
In the morning, I ran my fastest 200 metres for several years, to qualify for the evening's final. I took only a passing interest in other events in the stadium in between. After my 200m final, I shot a few of the other 200m finals.

Saturday 28 March
Hurdles and relays day. I spent most of the middle of the day preparing for the 4x200 relay, and waiting afterwards to receive our gold medal (see below). You'll understand why photographing other people seemed less important, I hope. Nevertheless, it's still a pretty large gallery of pictures!
